DINKA SHIELD (SUDAN) 60W 140H SP

Named for the Dinka people of South Sudan, this African shield takes on the tall, narrow silhouette long associated with shields from the pastoralist communities of the Nile Valley region. At 140cm high and 60cm wide, its elongated form stands apart from the rounder shield shapes more common further west across the continent.

Hand-carved from solid wood, it is sized to command real attention, whether leaned in a corner as a sculptural floor piece or mounted flat against a long wall where its full length can be appreciated. Its scale and unusual proportions make it a genuine conversation piece rather than a subtle accent.

For a considered African curio grouping, position this shield near a carved animal figure or an African mask of similar carved-wood tone, letting the natural grain of each piece tie the display together.
