Catalogued under Nigeria, this is a Nupe house post, a hand-carved wooden architectural pillar in the tradition of the Nupe people of central Nigeria, whose carvers are known for decorating compound and palace posts with relief patterning. This piece stands 190H cm.
Stood in a corner or against a wall, its tall carved silhouette brings genuine architectural sculpture into a room, anchoring a space the way it once anchored a building.
Pair this Nupe House Post with a Bamileke stool or a decor mask for a grounded African curio display.
